Lexical Problems in Chinese English Learner’s Oral Communication and Its Countermeasures

Abstract

As the basic element of language, vocabulary is the most decisive and difficult part. Without it, language would not exist. Scholars at home and abroad have put forward various ways to research vocabulary teaching in accordance with the lexical problems in Chinese English learners’ oral communication. But most of the researches aim at the technique and method of lexical memory. The learners don’t really know how to use them. Through the analysis of the reasons of the lexical problems in present oral communication, this thesis puts forward the standpoint that it is necessary to stress vocabulary teaching from the sides of the meanings, background and use of word. It explores three strategies to solve the lexical problems: dispelling learners’ psychological obstacles, improving cultural awareness, reducing native lexical transfer.

摘  要

作爲語言的基本要素,詞彙被視爲最具有決定性並複雜的'部分。沒有詞彙,語言將不存在。針對中國學生英語口語中的詞彙障礙,許多學者開始對詞彙教學進行探索和研究。但是這1研究較多還是停留在詞彙記憶的技巧和方法上。學生仍不知道該如何使用它們。本文通過對現存於英語口語中詞彙障礙形成原因的分析,闡述應從單詞的意義,背景和用法等方面加強詞彙教學,提出3種解決詞彙障礙的辦法:消除學生的心理障礙,提高跨文化意識,減少本土詞彙的遷移。
