我第1次去 Shell 面試那是我大四上學期面試官 Steven (Finance Manager – South China) 男士 Suprince (HR Officer – South China) 女士面試從校園生活開始，我當然大談學生活動，絕口不提我並不突出的學習成績，幸好 Shell 也並不在意成績。我有意將話題引到一次暑期工，並說：“其實銷售成績並不理想”，他們果然中計跟着問：“爲什麼？”我於是從容地將準備好的理由 first, second, third 地羅列出來，肯定贏得了不少好感。顯然他們對我 校園生活比較滿意，話鋒一轉： Q: OK, let’s talk about another topic, which you’re probably not familiar with , but not worry, just express yourself as much as you can .. 接下來的問題是： - 你覺得中國婦女的現狀是怎麼樣？ - 她們和以前有什麼不同？ - 爲什麼會有這樣的不同？ - 你比較關注哪些婦女問題？ - 如果你有機會向國家主席提建議來改善中國婦女狀況，你會提哪些建議？ My god, 這都是什麼問題，還要用英語回答，有些地方實在不知道該怎麼表達，他們也允許我用中文補充。好不容易纔熬過這些問題，那個 Suprince 突然又扯到了男女平等： Q: do you think we’re equal? A: No, we’re born unequal. 女強人這個詞就表明強的女人是少數，並說明世界一直被男性統治。 Q: what kind of woman you want to marry with, businesswoman or house wife? A: of course, house wife; Q: if you have a daughter, you want her to become businesswoman or house wife? A: of course businesswoman, Q: you want your wife to be a house wife, but daughter to become businesswoman? A: yes, that’s what I’m thinking 這些問題實在使我惱火，而且疲於奔命。整個面試過程十分被動，受到圍追堵截，覺得希望不大。但不久就接到通知可以去參加他們的第二輪面試 我第2次去 Shell 面試這也是最後一輪測試，分兩部分： 1． 從5個話題中自己挑選1個，花30分鐘準備一個speech; 2． 60分鐘向2位 interviewer做speech並接收提問；我已經忘了 我挑了哪個話題 ，那些話題包括：環保、走私、私有化等， interviewer 1個是香港人，1個是外國人（自稱在Shell工作了13年的HR）但整個面試十分糟糕，一個問題成了轉折點：外國人：（英文）如果有人批評Shell到中國來設廠生產是想利用當地比較低的環保標準，你將如何迴應？我的回答大概是我會解釋我們不會在中國有意降低標準等，顯然他很不滿意我的答案，他說：讓我告訴你吧，我們Shell在世界各地都將保持相同的環保標準 …… 我馬上覺得他並不是在聽我的回答，他只是想訓斥我，而且我並不覺得我的答案和他的有什麼不同。面試的氣氛馬上讓我覺得很泄氣。接下來的一些問題也顯得十分愚蠢香港人：do you like traveling? A: yes, I’ve been to Sichun province. But I can’t do that very often. Q: why? A: that needs a lot of money, right? Q: I mean business travel A: oh, sorry, I though you mean tour, 在一個問題中，香港人提到一個詞 state company，我一時不明白指什麼，繞了一下才明白就是我們平時指的 state-owned company 國有企業，等我醒悟的時候，問題已經結束了，這些詞彙對於讀機械專業的.我有時真的反應不過來。結果我沒有通過第二輪面試。那年Shell在我們學校只招了2個外語系的男生。但1年之後，我又參加了一詞Shell的面試，那時我已經工作了半年 我第3次去 Shell 面試我在一個法國小公司工作了半年，很開心，但知道沒有前途。朋友介紹SHELL人事部(HR)要招人，我趕緊遞了簡歷。面試官 David Lee (HR Manager – South China) 全英文面試，時間大概1.5 小時，面試自然少不了對我工作的回顧，然後主要討論了計算機的問題： - 計算機到底有什麼好處； - 有什麼壞處？ - 如何對付這些壞處？ - 計算機在未來的10年有什麼新用途； - 如何在中國推進計算機教育； - 如何說服中國政府大規模採用計算機系統？ - 計算機對政府有什麼用？有些問題讓我記憶猶新： Q: Why do you want to change your job? A: first, many friends of mine persuade me to be a big fish in a small pond, but I know you won’t find a big fish in the small pond, it can be only found in th e ocean. I should find the ocean and learn to become a big fish; second, accordi ng to my experience on badminton, you will never become a good player if you don ’t practice with the good player, I’m sure I can find a lot of good players in you company; I enjoy my time with my current company, but I know the long term development is more import to me; Q: Are you going to pursue MBA program some day in the future? A: yes, but I don’t have very high expectation on the result of it; Q: why? A: MBA program summarize the basic grammar of the business operation, it doesn’ t mean you are good at negotiation even you’re good at Chinese or English gramm ar, same logic, MBA course won’t make you have the real ability while facing ac tual business decision. But it’s still good to have some grammar foundation whe n you starting learning any language; 有一個問題我被卡住了 Q: …. Do yo mean the government should use common software? Common software 是什麼，我一時反應不過來，只好說：I don’t quite follow you? David 發現我是不都懂這個詞，就解釋說：standard software 我好沒面子，這樣都沒聽懂
