On Some Commonly-Used Figures of Speech in English Advertisements and Their Chinese Translation

Abstract

The pragmatic application of figures of speech in advertisement is a frequently used strategy, while the advertisement’s aim is to make the customers have a basic knowledge of the products and promote their buying desire. Good advertisement translation is closely related to the figures of speech and the culture. Though there are many researches about figures of speech in English advertisement today, it’s still far from needed. The main purpose of the thesis is to analyze the deliberate application of several figures of speech in some advertisements and the effect they create through examples, from which we can acquire the basic methods of translating English advertisement.

摘  要

修辭格的應用是廣告的1種常用策略,而廣告的目的是爲了讓顧客對產品有基本的認識並激發他們的購買慾望。好的廣告翻譯與修辭格和文化有着密切的聯繫。儘管當今有很多關於廣告修辭格的研究,但對其細緻的.翻譯研究卻是遠遠不夠的。本文從英語廣告的修辭特徵出發,通過着重分析幾種常用的廣告修辭格的運用及其所產生的效果,解析廣告修辭的語言特色,並結合1些常見的翻譯方法來學習翻譯英語廣告的基本方法,從而讓大家瞭解並學習1些常用的英語廣告翻譯的方法。
