復旦大學近日稱同城院校假冒復旦騙學生改志願，並暗指是上海交大所爲，遭到交大否認，引發了兩所著名高校間的口水仗。兩校因爭搶生源而引起的衝突，暴露的只是國內知名高校生源大戰的冰山一角。名校間的`招生競爭在近幾年裏已愈演愈烈，漸呈白熱化趨勢。

Two of Shanghai’s leading universities are involved in a fierce dispute over alleged poaching of talented students, as competition among universities on the Chinese mainland continues to intensify.
上海兩所著名高校近日捲入爭搶生源的口水仗中，大陸高校爭搶生源的競爭愈演愈烈。
文中的poaching of talented students就是指“爭搶生源”，指的是在高校招生過程中，通過簽訂“預錄取協議”等手段，爭搶高分考生。“生源”一般用student pool來表示，這裏的talented students指的是各地的“優質生源”。
北大等高校已經開始實行nominations from their headmasters（校長推薦制）以及independent recruitment （自主招生）等新的招生方式，但大多數高校的招生錄取制度遲遲不變，導致出現了這些招生亂象。
Poach在這裏指的是“挖走人員、挖牆角”，還可以表示“竊取”。比如：Rival investment banks are exploiting the upheaval at Morgan Stanley by trying to poach staff and clients.（投資銀行競爭對手紛紛利用這次變動“挖牆角”，把目標瞄準了摩根斯坦利的員工和客戶。）
