1、名詞動用
The Internet is beginning to rival newspapers as the best place to find information about what is happening in the world.
此句選自於文化類的一篇考官範文，注意打單橫線的rival 這一詞， 相信大部分同學見到這一單詞之後第一反應是他的名詞含義， 競爭者的意思。 但通過基本語法做分析後大家會發現， rival在這裏爲動詞用法， 翻譯過來爲與…競爭。 Rival的動詞用法在這裏就是我們所說的less common vocabulary。 同rival相似的， 以下例句中劃橫線的詞都運用了名詞動用的表達， 大家可自行體會。

3、話題詞彙
很多同學相信在寫文章做句子銜接的過程中， 總是極力避免使用Firstly, Secondly 及Finally 這類銜接詞。覺得把他們換爲moreover， Furthermore 及In addition 就會更高端一些。 實際不然， Firstly使用起來的效果同moreover無異。 兩個詞都是linking words 使用時都會起到銜接上下文的作用， 在難度上並沒有差異。 考官的範文中也出現過firstly的用法。 換句話來說， 同學們後期及詞彙的過程中， 像是firstly這類銜接詞不需要花大量的時間做文章， 相反的一些topic words是我們關注的重點。
什麼是topic words， 比如我們在大作文中最常見的教育話題， 其中會涉及到children這個主體。 說到children好多同學想到他就會給出youngster， adolescent及youth這類詞， 雖然詞看起來有難度， 但表達並不精準。 考官在範文中表述時， 就用了the next/younger generation 來替代children。 這裏面的the next/younger generation就是我們所說的topic words。 所用表達不難， 但很適合我們所寫的教育類話題。 下文中大家所看到的就是在教育類話題中可以用得到的topic words ， 可有意識的做積累， 後期運用到自己的文章中。
