簡歷是大多數人實踐文字設計的最常見載體。人人都希望簡歷給人留下好印象，因此或多或少會告誡自己「注意排版」。問題在於具體注意些什麼。以下十條是最基本的規則，若能做到，你的英文簡歷已經比 90% 的`中國人(包括英文系學生)的規範美觀了。
一、標點符號一律使用半角。
二、逗號、句號、分號、冒號、感歎號、問號和它們後面的字符之間必須留一個半角空格。

三、逗號、句號、分號、冒號、感歎號、問號和它們前面的字符之間不可留任何空格。

四、將長串數字分開寫，降低辨識的難度。

五、書名、雜誌名、電影名、音樂專輯名、英文中出現的外文(包括拼音，人名除外)用斜體。

六、對於電話區號應用不同的符號區分。
錯誤：+86-139-2739-6856

七、對於有序列表，應採用「阿拉伯數字 + 英文句點 + 半角空格」的方式。

八、括號弧線外要留空格，弧線內不要。

但同一個單詞內的括號例外：

九、用彎引號，不要用直(的彎)引號。

十、正確使用各種短橫：em dash (—) 是破折號，en dash (–) 用來連接年份、時間，是「到」的意思，hyphen (-) 是連字符。
錯誤：Glenn Gould (1932-1982) isprobably my one and only hero - the person who taught me to think differentlywell before Steve Jobs.

注意：
1. 若寫作時用兩個 hyphen (--) 代替破折號，Word 等字處理軟件會自動將其轉為 em dash。有鑑於 em dash 輸入不便(Mac 上是shift + option + -)，這也是英文寫作通用的替代法。
2. 破折號(em dash)兩端可各留一半角空格，亦可不留。此乃英美習慣之不同，無對錯之分。惟請在同一份簡歷中保持統一。
