AS a result of weather delays, Boston's Logan International Airport was teeming with frustrated travelers. When I checked in for my flight, I could see from the size of the crowd that boarding was going to be a lengthy process.

Don't judge a life by one difficult season.
There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn to not judge things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away.
The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in the fall.
When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what they had seen.
The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted. The second son said no - it was covered with green buds and full of promise.
The third son disagreed, he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen.
The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfillment.
The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they had each seen but one season in the tree's life.
He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season, and that the essence of who they are - and the pleasure, joy, and love that come from that life - can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are up.
If you give up when it's winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, fulfillment of your fall. Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest.

通過一個多學期的觀察，我發覺有些孩子在英語課堂上學得很好，老師教的一般都會讀，但第二天的反饋卻比較差。一年級學生的學習能力、接受新知識的能力比較強，但遺忘能力也十分強，如果當天晚上不進行復習的話，第二天往往會把前一天學習的內容忘記。所以爲了讓您的孩子英語學習有連續性，在課外，我希望家長能夠多關心孩子的英語學習狀況，並提以下幾點建議：
1．幫助孩子養成聽英語習慣。
⑴每天安排一個固定的時間（10分鐘左右）督促孩子聽英語。如每天固定在晚上7：00聽英語，則每天一到這個時間就幫助孩子準備好，讓孩子養成習慣。聽英語時，能聽一句跟着說一句，並對比自己的發音，儘量模仿，自己糾正。
⑵幫助孩子完成聽說英語作業。因爲我們是從口語開始訓練，所以一年級的英語作業大多是聽和說。讓孩子看着英語單詞卡片說一說，或邊做動作邊說等等。並建議家長讓孩子看着英語書第一頁的英語彙總表讓孩子讀一讀上面的句子和單詞。
2．幫助孩子養成用英語的習慣。
我們的英語教學不從a b c字母開始，而從英語口語開始，一方面是遵從學習規律；另一方面是爲了孩子應用的需要。我希望您能多問問孩子“今天英語學到了什麼”，孩子學到的兒歌，歌曲等可以鼓勵他表演給別人看。有條件的還可以用學到的與孩子對話。總之，鼓勵孩子把學到的在家裏用起來。
3. 幫孩子蒐集一些少兒英文歌曲，在家裏多讓孩子聽一聽。

在學習中樂於模仿，敢於表達，對英語具有一定的感知能力。 對英語學習中接觸的外國文化習俗感興趣。從總目標中，我們明確一下我們一二年級的目標:培養良好的學習習慣和語音語調。 培養和發展孩子們學英語，用英語的興趣和愛好 大家知道，二年級英語一週的課時量非常少。一個星期只有整整四十分鐘的時間是屬於
英語課的。加上課堂內檢查聽讀作業、教師教授新內容的時間，雖然我很注意讓孩子們儘可
能有機會表達，但實際剩下給孩子們真正自己練習發音的機會少之又少。所以一二年級的英
語更加註重學生在家裏的聽讀。這張表格我在上學期的家長會上也出示過。左邊是孩子們課內課外我們預期他們能達到
的目標；右邊是家長們能對孩子們做出的幫助。 經過我們將近兩個學期對英語課本光盤的大量重複地聽讀，大部分孩子已經建立了良好
的聽讀習慣與發音習慣。隨之而來的一個問題比較明顯，學校校本教材錄製的聽讀光盤內容
比較少，沒有視頻與圖像。慢慢地孩子們對聽讀學校光盤的興趣降低了，甚至覺得乏味無趣。
所以這個學期開學初，我對孩子們聽讀的內容做出了調整。一個星期學校聽讀光盤保證5分
鐘的聽讀即可，其他時間可以利用一些其他的聽讀材料和自己的朗讀來代替。現在市面上以及網上一些關於少兒英語的兒歌、視頻都比較多，家長們可以購買或下載
到電腦上，建議可以讓孩子們去聽去看。但如果是英語小動畫的話，建議家長們選擇一些簡
單的、沒有中文字幕的材料。時間不要太長。保護好孩子們的眼睛。 如果家長有一定的英語基礎，可以從網上下載一些英語兒童繪本，爲孩子講述英語故事。
這樣可以與孩子進行英語互動，也是一個很不錯的辦法。學生的抽象思維能力較低，形象思
維能力強，但注意力容易分散。適合以故事、小品、漫畫或動畫等形式展示，並配以豐富的
色彩，從而增強學生的興趣和注意力。根據教育心理學,如果學生對於一件事物有極大的興趣,
他們就會全身心地投入到知識的學習中去。接下來我想以一場story time的形式向各位家長介紹一下網絡上、市面上一些常見的英
